Take a Walk on the wild Design
As designers we tend to go a little
crazy, it’s a part of what we do. We get so involved in something that we
forget to look at what we are doing from another perthspective which makes us
do some weird stuff. This week is dedicated to the weird, the wonderful and the
downright crazy. So buckle up and get ready for
a wacky ride.
Once upon a time there was a
lounge, a lounge that was terrified of butt’s. So terrified that instead of
suffering like every other lounge suite on earth this one decided to run away.
Lets hope it got where it wanted to go.
Maybe it ended up at a circus to perform as a freak show.
Speaking of Circus’s did you know Perth has its very own design circus each
year run by Mobillia?
I was fortunate enough to
visit design circus 2015 last year. There were some wacky design choices I have
to say but my favorite piece was definitely the monkey side table by Jaime Hayon.
It looks just as confused as I am.
Here is some other wacky stuff I saw while at the design
circus. Its definitely a must see when it comes this year.
After the circus I was feeling hungry and for some weird
reason majorly thirsty. So what better way to continue the quirky night by
going to one of Perth’s weird chill out places in Leederville. But a good
weird.
Green and Co.
This place filled my appetite and quenched my thirst with
some hysteric food and drink options and the place is adorned with god knows
how many lights I felt like taking one since they probably wouldn’t notice if
one was missing. As I sip my Chai Latte I questioned what their power bill must
be like.
While sitting in a sofa all to
myself I glanced over to notice a huge pile of design magazines. (When I see a
place with design magazines I feel like I have just won the lottery). No
kidding. Anyway as I flipped through the pages I came across this office design
in Melbourne for iselect. It had so many playful features including a slide to
the lunch/breakout space and orange hippopotamus seats because why not. Maximum Quirk achieved!
